We caught up with Pete Crowley, the award-winning owner of Haymarket Pub & Brewery, to get a sneak peak of the new West Loop brewpub (and his personal favorites) before our event next week!
How did you come up with the Haymarket concept?
We based Haymarket on our love for craft beer and handmade food. We wanted it to look and feel like a place where we would want to go. The name comes from the historic Haymarket Square and internationally recognized importance of the events that occurred here.
What is your favorite item on the menu?
Our signature sandwhich, The Riot, with house made italian sausage AND pulled pork on it.
What is your favorite house brewed beer on tap?
They change almost daily. Currently I am a big fan of the Agitator Double IPA but they are all my children and I love them all equally.
What is your favorite other beer, if you had to choose one?
Victory Wild Devil
What is one thing no one else knows about Haymarket?
It's haunted by Barney's Ghost, the owner of Barney's Market Club which stood here for 70 years.
What's one thing you've always wanted to do in Chicago but haven't?
Go to the Museum of Science and Industry.
Thanks Pete! We can't wait to to test out all your little children next week at the Haymarket Brewery Tour and Beer Tasting! (that sounded creepy but you know what we mean)
