Note from the Founder
Hey everyone!
My name is Lindsay Saewitz, and I founded CitySwarm in December 2010 to provide a way for the young people of Chicago to break out of their routines, explore the city, socialize with peers, and take advantage of awesome group-buying benefits.
After graduating from the University of Michigan, I returned to my hometown of Chicago to begin working in online sales and marketing. I'm a social person and a strong advocate of work-life balance, so when the workday stopped my unofficial role of social coordinator amongst friends began. I love trying new restaurants, bars and activities around Chicago and would attempt to coordinate large group outings, but organizing can often be a huge pain.
To try and do this on a more "official" level, I was elected on to the Board of Directors for the University of Michigan Club of Greater Chicago where I became Marketing Chair & Co-Programming Chair. After having a great time hosting successful events around the city, I realized that it wasn't just me looking for new things to do and an easy way to do them.
Group buying websites soon became popular and I excitedly took advantage of many offers. A few girlfriends and I bought tickets to a Cubs rooftop event, and while the experience was still great, we noticed there weren't many people socializing with each other.
After considering the options in Chicago for more socializing, I felt that the existing ones were on opposite sides of a wide spectrum: either heavily focused on partying, professional networking, or meant purely for singles. I thought that Chicago needed something in the middle- a group that organizes activity-driven, reasonably-priced social events for everyone.
And thus CitySwarm was born.
When you attend a CitySwarm event, you get the benefit of a well-organized, social day or night out with your peers but without any of the hassle of planning. All at amazingly affordable prices. Our events range from a classy night of theater to kayaking down the Chicago River to cocktails at the newest bar, and everything in between. I love suggestions, so please feel free to email me at lindsay@cityswarmchicago.com.
I look forward to seeing you at our next event!
