Stand-up Paddle Boarding, or SUP, is a hybrid of surfing and kayaking, which involves standing on an oversized surf board and paddling with a single bladed paddle. The concept was originally used by ancient polynesian cultures and is now hitting the waves of Lake Michigan thanks to Great Lakes Board Company, owned and operated by a Chicago native!

At 6:00 PM, we'll meet at the Great Lakes Board Co push-off point, conveniently located on the south end of North Avenue Beach. Each guest will get a Greater Than coconut water to stay hydrated and a LUNA protein bar for energy! After a half hour of learning the basic techniques from experienced in-water instructors, we'll spend the rest of the time honing our new skills and enjoying the amazing scenery during an hour of free paddle.

After this workout you'll most certainly be famished. Good thing Castaways (THE symbol of Chicago summer) is just a few steps away! CitySwarmers will refuel with a chicken fajita and cheese quesadilla buffet - complete with guacamole and all of your favorite fixins. Sit back, relax, and sip on an ice cold Coors Light as you enjoy a totally classic summer night (with fireworks if you're coming on Wednesday!)

In the case of severe weather, a Great Lakes Board Company staff member will make any cancellation determinations by the scheduled start time of the event and guests will be notified via email. In the case of a cancellation, your ticket will be moved to the rain date, or a full refund can be provided.
